Orthodontic Treatment in Patients with Advanced Periodontal Disease

Patients with generalized or local periodontal disease still means some concern to the orthodontist, who sometimes don’t treat the case wondering how the “periodontium” will respond to the orthodontic forces. Meanwhile, when this patient receives a multidisciplinary approach, with the interrelationship of the orthodontist and the periodontist, good clinical results are achieved by the professionals and the patient, with improvement on oral hygiene, periodontal prognosis, esthetics and self confidence. The present paper discuss how to deal with this kind of problem and presents 3 clinical cases.
