The early treatment of Class III malocclusions represents a challenge for the orthodontist. It is known that 62% of Class III malocclusion cases present maxillary involvement, requiring some type of protraction for its correction. The protraction appliances may sometimes be uncomfortable and unesthetic. TURLEY, in 1988, developed a method for construction of a more comfortable and esthetic protraction appliance that consisted of taking impression of the face to make a customized face mask. The purpose of this paper is to discuss this technique and to present a clinical case treated with this methodology.

Keywords: Class III malocclusion. Customized face mask. Early treatment.
