Occlusal adjustment as part of Orthodontic Treatment: Current Theories and Concepts

This article aimed to revise theories and current concepts about the use of occlusal adjustment as therapeutic method for patients submitted to orthodontic treatment. This subject assumed great importance in the last years because of the controversy regarding many points involved in its use. A detailed revision of the morphologic factors and validity of this procedure, as well as its relationship with the orthodontic therapy is presented. Clinical cases are also presented as application of the theoretical concepts discussed.
