Impacted Maxillary Canines: Clinical and Radiographic Norms

This study aims to approach the aspects related with impacted maxillary canines, including the epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment procedures. In despite of maxillary canines most frequently display anomaly of eruption after the third molars, the incidence of cuspid impaction is low. Its etiology is multifatorial, involving generalized and localized causes. It’s important to make the early diagnosis, to prevent the impaction of maxillary canine with eruption ectopic trajetory, integreting to this both clinical and radiographic aspects. There are several treatment alternatives, chosen according to the dental position, presence of localized patologic changes, features of malocclusion, and patient age and disponibility.
