Wits Appraisal in Japanese-Brasilian Youths With Normal Occlusion

From a sample of Japanese-Brazilian youths with normal occlusion, it was determined through roentgenographic cephalometric, the medium values for the Wits appraisal. The sample in this study comprehended 41 youths: 21 girls and 20 boys, Japanese-Brazilian with normal occlusion having not been submitted to orthodontic treatment. All of them with permanent teeth, in occlusion, except for the third molars, average age 15,71 years, children and grandchildren of Japanese parents and grandparents. The results of the research evidence the necessity of using a cephalometric specific pattern for Japanese-Brazilian, after the determination of medium values for the Wits appraisal and after the detection of no sexual dimorphism.
