Suction Habits and Malocclusions Reconsidering this Connection

The study relates to identify the occurrence of the suction habits and malocclusions and to check which are the possible correlation established between both. From the estimation of 164 students of both sex and kindergarten, from the private schools of Jundiaí, São Paulo, it was testified that the suction habits are more often related to nursing bottle and pacifier. Which means, that the incidence of those, decreases according to the age and doesn’t related to sex. The suction habits show a significant relation to open bite since the age of 5 years old. According to these data, the status of the relation between Speech Therapy and Odontology are being questioned in the clinic practice.
