The relapse of the deep overbite comes, still, as an incognito one. The divergence of opinions raised by the literature demonstrate of the different methodologies including the materials and the methods as well as the several components involved in its cause. Revising the pertinent literature, the factors that probably meet involved with this relapse are: the pattern of facial growth, the anterior and posterior facial heights, the ramus height and the length of the mandibular body, the gonial angle, the interincisal angulation, the crowding relapse and overjet relapse and the movement of the incisors and of the molars. In this context, it intended to evaluate the factors above. The sample included 45 subjects of both sexes, that presented, initially, Class I and Class II, 1st division, with overbite of at least 3,5mm and treated by with extraction of the first four bicuspids. The lateral headfilms and the study models were taken at baseline, end and 5 years after treatment. The results allowed to conclude: 1) for the dental factors, the overjet, the movement of the incisors and of the molars and the interincisal angulation was correlated with the relapse; 2) for the skeletal factors, only the variable N-Me (total anterior facial height). presented significant correlation with the relapse. Also, it was verified a strong correlation of the amount of correction with the amount of relapse.
