The authors aimed to discuss the factors of malocclusion showing heredity and congenital causes, the general and local factors and the abnormal habits. The subject should be considered most important as it permits to the orthodontists an accurate diagnosis providing the prevention or interception of malocclusions and the stability after orthodontic treatment.
