We intend with this study evaluate the tensile bond strength of metallic foilmesh(Abzil-Lancer) bonded in human premolars with the light-cured resin Transbond-XT associated with moisture insensitive primer Transbond-MIP or with resin-modified light-cured glass ionomer Fuji Ortho LC, both in wet environment, compared to chemical pastepaste resin Concise Ortodôntico(Control) and the light-cured adhesive TransbondXT, in dry environment. The index of adhesive remnant was observed with optical microscopy and damages of enamel with stereoscopy electronic microscopy (SEM). The foil-mesh AbzilLancer brackets bonded with Concise Ortodôntico, in dry environment, or with the Transbond-XT plus Transbond-MIP, in wet environment, showed the highest values of bond strength compared to resin-modified light-cured glass ionomer cement Fuji Ortho LC, in wet environment, and Transbond-XT, in dry environment. The incidence of failure was predominant in enamel-adhesive interface for Transbond-XT, with or without Transbond-MIP, and with Fuji Ortho LC, but Concise Ortodôntico showed more failure incidence in enamel-bracket interface. There was no case of enamel fracture.
