FOB-USP Cephalometric Standards for Japanese-Brazilian Youths with Normal Occlusion

From a sample of Japanese-Brazilian youths with normal occlusion, it was determined through roentgenographic cephalometric, the medium values for the cephalogram as recommended by the Course of Orthodontics of the Bauru Faculty of Dentistry, University of São Paulo. The sample in this study comprehended 41 youths: 21 girls and 20 boys, Japanese-Brazilian with normal occlusion having not been submitted to orthodontic treatment. All of them with permanent teeth, in occlusion, except for the third molars, average age 15,71 years, children and grandchildren of Japanese parents and grandparents. The results of the research evidence the necessity of using a cephalometric specific pattern for Japanese-Brazilian, after the determination of medium values for normality in the skeleton, dental and tegumentary cephalometric magnitudes, and after the detection of sexual dimorphism in NAP, ANB and SN.Ocl measurements and verification of statistical differences in the comparison with Japanese in SNA, SNB, ANB, SND, _1 .NB, _1 -NB, PNB, SN.Ocl., SN.GoGn and IMPA measurements.
