Myotherapic Therapy as Auxiliary to the Effect of the Palatal Crib

This article focuses on the effect of the palatal crib upon the anterior open bite in the primary and mixed dentitions, and describes the therapy suggested by the speech pathologist to strenghthen the oral muscles in order to achieve better effectiveness in the closure of the anterior open bite. In our treatment protocol we indicate the palatal crib immediatelly followed by physiotherapy of the oral muscles. Such an approach should favor mostly patients with hypotonicity of the oral muscles. Therefore, the speech pathologist’s therapy helps to achieve better orthodontic results.
