Orthodontic Bonding Agents Part II – Composite Resin Systems

The orthodontic brackets usually are bonded to enamel with a composite resin adhesive used with an acid etchant and a conventional primer. Although the resin/acid adhesive system technique provided strong shear bond strength values, there are several brackets debonded during orthodontic treatment. In this special topical are presented the principal care necessary during adhesive bonding brackets technique to enamel or under different restorative materials and the different adhesive and composite systems used to aid the dentist during the orthodontic bonding brackets.
