Sormani Bento Fernandes de QUEIROZ, Rivadávio Fernandes Batista de AMORIM, Roseana de Almeida FREITAS, Josimário João da SILVA

The mandibular condyle hyperplasia (MCH) represents a development malformation caused by an excessive and autolimited condilar growth. The etiology of MCH remains unclear, however, some factors have been related with its development, such as circulatory alterations, trauma and hormonal disturbances. Several classifications have been proposed and the clinical and radiographic features are varied. In addition, the MCH, sometimes, can mimics other orofacials pathological conditions, therefore, its distinction is essential for the institution of a correct treatment. The aim of the present study is to carry out a review of the literature about MCH, emphasizing its epidemiologic aspects, diagnoses, management and treatment.
