To be possible to establish means of individualizing the orthodontic and facial orthopedic diagnosis, it becomes necessary a morphological evaluation of the maxilla and the superior arch in normal conditions. It was used a sample of 50 orthodontic casts of caucasian, brazilian youngs of both sex, in the age of 12 to 17 years old, with permanent dentition and normal occlusion. To obtain the measures evaluated it was used a Korkhaus’ three-dimensional compasses. After the reading of the measures evaluated, a statistical analysis with the Student “t” test was applied. It was concluded that in the vertical direction the correlation between the pre-maxilla height and the palatal height was 1% statistically significant (p < 0,01); in the transverse direction the correlation between the inter superior premolars distance and the inter superior molars distance was 1% statistically significant (p < 0,01); in the anteroposterior direction the correlation between the superior arch length and the superior arch length by the 1st permanent superior molars was 1% statistically significant (p < 0,01) too. About the correlation of the measures studied in the different directions, it was checked that: the superior arch length with the pre-maxilla height; the superior arch length with the palatal height; the superior arch length by the 1st permanent superior molars with the pre-maxilla height; the superior arch length by the 1st permanent superior molars with the palatal height were 5% statistically significant (p < 0,05).
