Applications of Reinforced Glass and Polyethylene Fibers in Orthodontic Practice – Part I

This article approaches the clinical use of glass fiber and polyethylene in orthodontic. Clinical cases show their use in traditional and innovative ways which, changes concepts, mechanics and aesthetics of fixed appliances. Highlighted advantages are treatments with less use of brackets, wires and bands, more comfort for the patient and lesser incidence of periodontal problems due to use of bands. A few indications of use of fibers are presented as well as different types of fiber available at the market.
