Fixed periodontal prosthesis: case report

Mila Oliveira Santos Viana

The great technological advances in dentistry in recent years allowed for the realization of restorations with excellent biomimetic features. Materials with optical and physical characteristics similar to those of tooth structure increasingly appears on the market, which ensures satisfactory aesthetic and mechanical outcomes. The search for materials that have the same strength of the tooth in mastication is incessant and the evolution of research and technology allied to science has allowed these achievements. However, in planning oral rehabilitation, in addition to the aesthetic and mechanical factors, a thorough analysis of biological factors is still paramount. And in some clinical situations even with all this technological apparatus we have to resort to more conservative and traditional restorations, due to patient limitations. Thus in this context, the aim of this study was to report a case of periodontal traditional metaloceramic fixed prosthesis and partial removable denture, despite the advent of implants. However, biological limitations did not hinder the use the best materials available and all concepts of oral rehabilitation aiming at reducing clinical sessions and establishing a protocol for restoration of oral health with maximum discretion, enabling aesthetic and long lasting results.
