Compensatory treatment of Class III malocclusion associated with extrusive luxation

Pedro Marcelo Tondelli

The present clinical case was presented to the Brazilian Board of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and describes the treatment of a dental and skeletal Class III malocclusion with unilateral crossbite on the right side and a vertical growth pattern. The objectives were to correct crossbite, molar relationship, tooth and cephalometric discrepancy by means of extractions of the second upper premolars and lower first premolars. Appropriate conduct was necessary to circumvent dentoalveolar trauma during treatment in order to achieve initial goals. At the end of the treatment, a good dental occlusion was obtained, with improvement of facial aesthetics and smile.
