Torque control using Damon system

Darwin Vaz de Lima. Karina Maria Salvatore de Freitas. Weber Ursi.

Torque is deined as the moment of for ce generated by the torsion of the rectangular wire in the slot of the bracket and is expressed when the slot is illed, and when the wire thickness is gradually increased during treatment. Torque expression depends on several factors related to the orthodontist, the patient and the wire-bracket interaction, thus torque expression in self-ligating brackets has characteristics that differ from non self-ligating conventional brackets. Quality of self-ligating brackets and reliability of the size of the slots are very important in torque expression, and besides the knowledge of the type of wire used, the importance of individualization is also present in orthodontic treatments
