Palatal bar and friction?

With the growing popularity of molar tube, there has been a decrease in the use of palatal bar by orthodontists performing corrective treatment. However, this fact has also occurred because the best evidence available has pointed out to the lack of efficacy of the device in maintaining anteroposterior anchorage unchanged during symmetrical space closure and vertical control of maxillary teeth. Nowadays, evidence seem to highlight that skeletal anchorage devices perform a better job.
