Skeletal Class II malocclusion — the use of extraoral appliance during maxillomandibular growth: case report

Class II malocclusion is of dental or skeletal origin, or a combination of both. Treatment may involve extractions and distalization with- extra and intraoral appliances. When the malocclusion is of skeletal origin, treatment should redirect growth by means of orthopedic appliances or orthognathic surgery in adult patients. It is important to determine patient’s growth pattern and morphological type, in order to develop an appropriate treatment plan. Thus, the aim of this study is to report a clinical case of skeletal Class II malocclusion treatment with changes in the direction of maxillary growth, distal movement of maxillary teeth and favorable mandibular response.
