Treatment of bruxism with botulinum toxin: A case report

Among the treatment modalities for bruxism, are indicated: the use of occlusal splints, medicines, acupuncture, and more recently the use of botulinum toxin. Thus, this study aimed to demonstrate a treatment for bruxism symptoms with botulinum toxin A in a male patient who reported headaches and daytime/ nighttime clenching. These symptoms were treated with botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) in specific areas of the temporal and masseter muscles, in the amount of 15U and 50U, respectively. The results were satisfactory, the patient had no adverse reactions, and presented a decrease in muscle pains and headache.
